PAPI CHURRO

I love churros and I always get a random craving for them. The best churros are from Disneyland. The price is steep but man, you can always guarantee they're gonna be good, unlike most other places. I've had a churro at the Rose Bowl Flea Market and other miscellaneous vendors and it was disappointing. They are either not cooked enough or too fried. I've always been in search for a good churro, because frankly I can't afford to drive 45 minutes to Anaheim and pay the entrance to see Mickey & Friends. Though trust me the thought has crossed my mind. Until of course I found Salina's.

This truck serves churros. And no it's not a gourmet or trendy truck. It is your O.G., my cousin Marcos painted Jesus on the back, food truck. Its located in Echo Park. No lines. No twitter. And it was good. 8 churros for $3. You can't beat that. They offer other sweet treats like funnel cake and churros with toppings. I wasn't disappointed. They were warm and fresh. Perfect! Glad to have found a local churro spot on Sunset and Echo Park.

NO ARTIFICIAL COLORING

I woke up early yesterday morning and went to the Larchmont Farmers Market. I am not at all a cook, my knowledge of vegetables and fruit are fairly slim. I spend most of the time asking my Mom, to explain what's a celery root? But my favorite part of going to farmers markets are just to see nature's nutritious gifts. It pretty amazing the different colors these raw veggies come in. I like observing the different shapes and forms they come in. Most food we consume is so processed, unnatural, that sometimes its good to [visually] appreciate the good stuff. Though I'll be honest, I will still fight with my parents about eating my vegetables.

After that we headed to downtown L.A. to run some errands. A shopkeeper had these pretty birds. You wouldn't think colors like this existed naturally. And I'll be honest again, birds scare me.

FILM AND HOLLYWOOD

One Sunday, a few weeks ago, after that week long rain storm, Los Angeles was blessed (spoiled) with its usual gorgeous weather. Mikee and I made a short trek out to the Griffith Observatory. With us we brought our film cameras. I shot with my Yashica TLR. I have been so used to shooting digital that this took a bit of patience. Completely completely manual, but fun nonetheless. Here are some scanned prints.

There was actually a lot of people here that Sunday. So we literally "trekked" up to the observatory. Above was the view from where we parked.

Stormin' thru the Storm

Yesterday around 5pm, I was driving back to L.A. from Pasadena. It was raining, cars were going slow. It wasn't anything too crazy. What was more crazy was the lighting. The sun that was piercing through the storm clouds. My cousin said it looked as if the world was going to end. The light was surreal, the tones changed as we went from the 210 to the 134 and 2 freeways. I thought it was beautiful. The hills were green and the houses in eagle rock looked majestic. Definitely a sight you do not see on a daily basis. Unfortunately since I was in the driver seat sans camera, I don't have the photos to match my description.

But I made sure my passengers tried their best to capture the rare Los Angeles moment via iPhone and blackberry. On one side we saw this:

And on the other this:

Two weeks ago, when it rained for an entire week, a hail storm passed through Mid City. Now that I was able to capture. Another rare and beautiful moment in L.A.

After watching it from my window for 2 minutes I grabbed my camera and ran outside. I felt like a kid witnessing snow fall for the first time. Except it was hail. My mom came out and joined me.

Enjoy today's sunshine =)

Beautiful Love.

"They say a best friend is someone who knows the song of your heart..." I had the privilege of attending Phoebe and Alan's wedding ceremony this past weekend. I don't think I've ever cried at a wedding, but I was real close. Phoebe's vows were a tearjerker and not to mention these two sang to each other! It was very nostalgic, to see these two singing and to see all my fellow Bruin alums. Good times. Congrats Phoebe (Beautiful) and Alan.

"... You sang that song when I forgot the words." I love love!
